The H. pylori MP plays an important role in its survival in the stomach. For example, the adhesion properties of the adhesin BabA vary with pH, which allows H. pylori to survive by adapting to gastric pH changes and adhering to gastric cells at the right time. Then, the MPs of H. pylori are also associated with the pathogenicity of H. pylori and causing inflammatory responses.
